Incisive Training is an accredited training centre for Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) qualifications. Understanding how to apply PMVA is an important part of safe care practice, especially in formal healthcare settings.

We provide staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage potential conflict using a range of techniques. These include de-escalation skills, verbal and non-verbal communication, tactical manoeuvres to disengage from an aggressor, and the safe application of physical intervention or restraint manoeuvres, where appropriate. We help our trainees to take control of conflict scenarios in a safe, legal and consistent manner.

Our training approach puts the well-being of patients and service users at the heart of all interventions. The course content includes guidance from the Department of Health, Care Quality Commission and NICE; and is underpinned by key principles in both common and statutory law. Our PMVA training is accredited by the National Federation of Personal Safety (NFPS) and we teach NFPS-issued physical intervention techniques which have been risk assessed and rigorously tested for their effectiveness and safety. NFPS techniques are also straightforward to learn and suitable for individuals of different physicals statures. All of our PMVA instructors have obtained a BTEC Level 3 in physical interventions and possess the relevant public liability insurance.

Courses can be delivered in-house and tailored to suit the needs of the operating environment and client group.
